Young people in Ohio, US, will be learning about internet safety in a program called “Be Internet Awesome,” being offered by the Delaware County District Library (DCDL). It includes a series of lessons with resources over two days in April and again in June/July in several library branches.
The program was developed by Highlights magazine and Google. DCDL is partnering with the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office and the Delaware County Against Human Trafficking Coalition, who will have information and experts available to answer questions.
An article in The Delaware Gazette noted that “finding books on internet safety is harder than you’d expect,” and points to three excellent resources, including “Burst Your Bubble!: Outsmart the Algorithms and See What You’re Missing.”
